[note: this was written en route, but we didn't find any free wifi in the airports.]
We took a chance and tried to get out of our driveway without plowing. Not only did we not get out, we put the car in the snowbank and couldn’t move it. Thankfully Sirvydas was able to call his friend Eric Mueller, who came with his father and their 4-wheel drive truck. It was a lot of work, but finally he was able to tow us up out of our driveway.
That driveway will be a real treat on the way home.
Driving to Tom Pleckaitis’ home in Woodbridge was also a white knuckle ride, because although the roads weren’t terrible the traction control on the van was. I felt like I was on an ice rink the whole time.
So we switched to his wife’s SUV for the rest of the trip to JFK. There was only the ordinary traffic from there on in. We’re at the gate now, with boarding in ½ hour. After a rocky start, things are looking smoother.
