Services

I understand that there will a memorial service tomorrow in Vilnius for Vaiva. I don't know who is arranging that.

Here in Connecticut, we will have a wake on Friday, December 19, from 5 pm to 8 pm, at

Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home
1276 Berlin Turnpike
Wethersfield, CT 06109
860-956-1149

I only have traveled there going north. You take the Berlin Turnpike heading toward Hartford, and eventually come to a Y in which two lanes veer off to the right to I91. Instead, stay in the one lane on the left, which is still the Berlin Turnpike even though it feels like a local street. You'll pass a Stop n Shop on the right, and soon Dillon Baxter will be on the right.

If you are arriving from some other direction, please check mapquest.

The funeral will be Saturday, December 20, at 10 am. A procession will leave the funeral home at about 9:15, I believe. The funeral will be held at

Holy Trinity Church
53 Capitol Avenue
Hartford, CT

The empty lot across the street from the church is available for parking on Saturday, I am told.

As there will be no burial here, immediately after the funeral we can all retire to the church hall for refreshments and speechifying. We'll bring some photos and mementos.

Vaiva's casket will be delivered to a specialist in international transport of the dead in New Jersey on Sunday, and we expect it to be shipped Monday, arriving Tuesday December 23. I'm not in charge of the Lithuanian ceremonies, but I don't see how anything before December 26 can be practical.
