From Sam and Irene Heitzman

We have known Vaiva and Jim for almost 30 years ever since Jim brought his outstanding editorial efforts to The Merrill Anderson Co., Inc. in Stratford, CT. We were unable to spend as much time with Vaiva as we would have preferred.

Understandably, Jim was so incredibly impressed with Vaiva's ability to create a life for her family in two countries.

Notwithstanding her incredible intellect she took considerable pleasure with little things such as the state of the art vacuum cleaner. We can only imagine in awe the opportunity she had of meeting one on one with President Bush and Secretaries Rice and Powell when she flew to Lithuania to interpret for the President. The speeches she gave in other countries on behalf of Lithuania. Galvanizing the Lithuanians in the United States.

We never had the opportunity of visiting Vaiva in Vilnius but Irene's college roommate did visit her several years ago and came away most impressed by everything that she was accomplishing.

54 seems much too young. However, Vaiva's accomplishments in her relatively short life were monumental.
