I finally watched the Barbara Walters special after the death of Farrah Fawcett. There was a lot of resonance for me. Ryan O'Neal's role as her caregiver at the end, especially, as well as Farrah's attitude and courage in trying to beat her cancer. Just like Vaiva.
I was taken aback when Ryan said to Barbara, "Everyone loved Farrah." Just so with Vaiva also.
In contrast, I find the hoopla over Michael Jackson's death disturbing. Yes, he had talent. perhaps exceptional talent. No, he did not lead an exemplary life, or an inspirational life, far from it.
I sometimes think I live in the wrong century.
