Dear fellow Lithuanian-- petition

Here is the call for petitions mentioned below.

Dear fellow Lithuanian-American:

Enclosed are petition forms for you to copy to use to gather signatures from Americans who support the cause of Lithuanian freedom. We will compile these petitions in one block to present to the President just before his summit meeting with Gorbachev. We need these signatures to demonstrate that the opinion polls haven’t told the whole story, that Americans do believe in freedom and democracy, that they believe Lithuania mustn’t be traded away.

Time is short. We must act quickly, to demonstrate decisively to Gorbachev that Lithuanians in the West and Lithuanians in Lithuania are of one mind, and that we won’t stop until Lithuanian is free.

This project has been endorsed by the Lithuanian-American Community (Bendruomin∂), VLIKAS, the Knights of Lithuania, and Bishop Paul Baltakis, spiritual leader of Lithuanian emigres.

Take the petitions with you wherever you go--to work, to school, to shopping malls. Please send completed petition forms as soon as possible--but keep collecting until just before the summit--to:
