Old photos from Putnam

On the grounds of the Immaculate Conception Convent in Putnam there is a wonderful cemetery, and in the woods behind the graveyard is a "castle" built by Fr. Yla. It's just one room, done as a reminder of the castles of medieval Lithuania. For the Lithuanian Day picnic, held each year in August. the castle is opened to the public.

These photos are from 1995. Vaiva was in Lithuania with a.p.p.l.e., so her niece Vilija came to live with us in Durham and to go to Camp Neringa in Vermont with the children. This photo shows the entire castle. Sirvydas, Lokys and Liepa are sitting on the roof, Vaiva's aunt Lijole is walking into the door.

A close-up of the children on the roof. Liepa and Lokys are 10, Sirvydas is 8.
Here's the group. The boys are not happy, for some reason.
